Club Profile

We are proud to be one of the oldest organisations in water skiing in New Zealand. The Karapiro Water Ski Club began as the dream of a group of avid water skiers, many of whom did not have their own boat or equipment and often couldn't always get the skiing buddies they needed. In 1957 they decided to do something about it. The solution was to form a club, Several months of backbreaking work later the clubhouse was ready to use. A club boat was purchased for the use of members, bringing the joys of water skiing to many. Since that time the Karapiro Water Ski Club has continued to improve the site.

Our slalom course is nestled in the most secluded area in the Southern Hemisphere to provide optimum ski conditions, and special equipment has been purchased to meet the requirements of world class skiers. Amid all this progress, the children growing up have a safe place to enjoy water skiing, several already compete at the National level. Many of our juniors sport trophies with their parent's (and some grandparent's) names engraved from long ago.
